Hoops of Hope

Some friends of ours began this organization a few years ago, and Sarti Design put together their logo and original website promotion.
We recently put together a brochure advertising this years' event on December 1st, and I strongly encourage your youth ministry or church to get involved.

food for thought - sao paulo advertising

Not sure if you have heard about this or not, back in December, 2006, the mayor of the 11-million-person Brazilian city of Sao Paulo banned all outdoor billboard advertising, citing advertisers' unwillingness to comply with the city's rules on what sort of billboards can be placed where. Now the rule is in effect, and Flickr user Tony de Marco has documented the eerie sight of a city stripped bare of commercial visuals.
You can read more about this by clicking here

Bringing this story home, what do you think would happen to your church or ministry here in the States if a law like this came into effect? Would it be a good or bad thing for your ministry? Does your ministry rely on "marketing" too much, or are you proud to say your best marketing is word-of-mouth and changed-lives?!

featured project: veritas fellowship logo

A project recently created was the new identity for Veritas Church, in Austin, TX.
The good people at Veritas were looking for "something new", with clean/dirty look to it! Nothing like the challenge of a juxtaposing design, but we are really happy with how this logo shaped up.

new design: pdym community blog

Sarti Design just finished up this "extreme makeover" for PDYM Community (there is a pun in there somewhere!).
We wanted to give them a fresh look for 07/08 in a blog-esque format that allowed multiple administrators and live-posting.
Thank you to Blogger for all things HTML.

Just finished up this design for the NEXT Coaching Networks... if you want to see the entire HTML Email Design you can click here

Reading through the design during creation, this network seems like a good idea for those who are ministering in start-up churches. I encourage you to check it out!

a very cool experience

My brother-in-law works with the Anaheim Ducks management, and as tradition has it, got to spend his day with the Stanley Cup. He was gracious enough to share the evening with the Cup with some family and friends. While it was a little strange that the center of attention at the party was a 3ft tall inanimate object, it was very cool, and lots of photos were taken... below are just a few, and yes, my youngest son Leighton really liked his new "high-chair" sitting in the Cup!

worship presentation software

When I was browsing the blogs over at Church Video Ideas I saw this interesting poll about worship presentation software... click here to view the poll.
The thing I wish was in the poll was a section for PowerPoint or Keynote, as I am intrigued at the percentage of people who still use these programs as their primary presentation program. Hey, maybe I should start my own poll?! Josh Griffin, can you do a poll for me?!

from deep in the archives

I was digging through an old shirt drawer the other day... and stumbled across this little gem below. My first ever clothing design, from the year 2000!
This was when I used to work with Crave, the college-age ministry at Saddleback Church.
Ah, the shirt, the memories, the overused "Uptown" font... maginifique!
I think Uptown has fared better than Taco Salad over the years!

quiz for the keen eye!

Take a look at the image below and then see if you can choose the right multiple choice answer below...

This image is:
a) a beach scene where you actually see the beach through a framed window.
b) a beach scene photo framed inside the solid wooden frame.
c) a beach scene that has been Photoshopped onto the frame, replacing the original painting inside the frame.

Which do you think it is?!

featured project: what's next?

I just finished this advertisement for the Intern Ministry at Saddleback Church. This ad will run in the notebook at all of YS's National Youth Worker Conventions across the USA.

Note: Just over 8 years ago I came out from Australia to be part of this intern program, and I highly recommend it!

featured site: creativemyk.com

I just stumble across this website this morning... if you like dabbling in Photoshop and Illustrator and need a jump-start on designing that next flyer or ministry logo yourself, then creativemyk.com might be able to help. It appears to be OpenShare Photoshop and Illustrator files shared by people doing design work at their local church.

If you do happen to use any of their work, let me know how it helped your own creative process.
